20mph Enforcement: Community Roadwatch to be rolled out
As the new 20mph speed limit continues to be introduced across the borough, the Council is supporting local group 20’s Plenty in rolling out a new Community Roadwatch scheme, to help further reduce vehicle speeds on our roads.
Community Roadwatch gives local residents the opportunity to work side by side with their local police teams and use speed detection equipment to identify speeding vehicles in their communities. Warning letters will be issued where appropriate, and the information can help to inform the future activity of local police teams.
The scheme is delivered by Richmond 20’s Plenty group. Road Watch events regarding the initiative are being held in areas where 20mph has already been implemented.
Community Roadwatch is a recognised initiative and has already been rolled out in a number of other boroughs in London, including Bromley, Lewisham, Greenwich, Southwark, Brent, Barnet, Haringey, Hillingdon, Ealing, Enfield, Harrow, Hackney, Tower Hamlets and the City of London.
