The Barn Church

The Barn Church, formally known as St Philip and All Saints, welcomes everyone to all of its worship. The Parish Eucharist takes place every Sunday at 9.30am, with a mixture of traditional and newer music and hymns. The Barn is a beautiful church for a wedding and many families bring children for baptism and become long-term members of our community. The Barn puts on many social and community events and hosts clubs such as thriving nursery and after-school groups. The Barn Church is historic. It was the first church in England to be built from a barn. The timbers come from a 17th-century barn in Oxted, in the far corner of Surrey. The timbers clearly predate the barn itself – they were probably from ships that fought at the time of the Armada – and the Tudor panelling behind the altar may be even older.
