Pirates, pop and protest
October 7, 2017 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm£12
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Marine Broadcasting (Offences) Act, which outlawed pirate radio, as well as the first airing of Radio 1 on 30 September 1967.In this special afternoon event, Mark Dunton will talk about Radio Caroline, one of the most famous pirate radio stations of the era, and the subsequent battle for the airwaves. A document display of related records from our collection will accompany the talk. The event will be followed by a screening of ‘Records of the Revolution’, a film project created by drama and art students inspired by our records, in partnership with the V&A.
