Churches in Kew are marking Refugee Week by holding a joint prayer vigil at St Anne’s Church, Kew Green, on Wednesday June 22nd.
The vigil takes place from 7pm to 10pm and will include prayers, readings and opportunities for silent prayer. All are welcome and people are free to come and go at any time during the event.
Refugee Week takes place every year across the world in the week around World Refugee Day on June 20th. This year Refugee Week celebrates acts of welcome shown to refugees by individuals and communities across the UK and Europe.
Information will also be available at the event about a borough-wide search for properties in Richmond to accommodate Syrian refugees. Refugees Welcome in Richmond is being launched at St Mary’s University, Twickenham on June 30th.
