Talk : Marianne North ‘A World in One Room’

April 12 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

£3

MARIANNE NORTH was a remarkable Victorian traveller and painter who traversed the globe, capturing the world’s flora with her paintbrush and recording her experiences in her journal, “Recollections of a Happy Life”. Jack Andrews, a Volunteer Guide at Kew for 25 years, introduces a selection of Marianne’s paintings, accompanied by quotes taken from her published memoirs and read by Sophie Jones, a Guide Lecturer for Historic Royal Palaces. The talk is called A WORLD IN ONE ROOM, a title used by Marianne herself to describe the gallery she had built in Kew Gardens to house this intriguing collection.
