The Georgian Visitor – POSTPONED
March 14 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm£20
We are very sorry to announce that we are POSTPONING our Next event – ‘The Georgian Visitor’ on Saturday 14th March 2020.
Ticket sales have been very poor in the past week. We can only put it down to the Coronavirus particularly as the average age of our audience is over 65. It’s possible that people are getting nervous about mixing with many other people in a crowded room. We will endeavour to reschedule it later in the year.
Lorraine Neale – Chairman of The Friends of St Anne’s – 9TH March 2020
Come and hear Richard Wheeler, now in his 43rd year with the National Trust and currently the Trust’s National Specialist in Garden History. He began with the Trust as a Chartered Surveyor in North Wales working on the restorations at Erddig, Chirk and Plas yn Rhiw, and since then has held a succession of managerial and professional roles in various parts of the country. He has advised on the restoration of the gardens at Stowe for the last 27 years. In his current role he gives curatorial and historical advice on the Trust’s 133 registered gardens in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
He is currently working on the gardens at Shugborough, Sizergh, Tredegar, and on Castle Ward in Northern Ireland. He lectures and writes regularly, largely on the history and iconology of gardens and their understanding and restoration.
Tickets for this event are £20, to include coffee to be served from 10.30 and a light lunch and a glass of wine served after the talk, and may be purchased online here or at the church only on the selected Sundays each month preceding the event. All Friends are eligible for a £5 discount.
