Village Planning Question Time
November 30, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Residents will be able to quiz the Leader and Cabinet Members about their priorities for their local area in a programme of Village Planning Question Time events, scheduled over the next few months.
In 2013 the Council agreed to move forward with proposals to develop the innovative Village Plans, by including guidance on local planning considerations. The process has given local people and businesses the lead role in developing the plans and provided a wider opportunity to ensure that the Council is working with the community to address a wide range of local issues.
Since then, residents in Kew, Whitton, Heathfield, Barnes, East Sheen, Mortlake, East Twickenham, Richmond, St Margarets, Hampton, Hampton Wick, Hampton Hill, and Teddington, Strawberry Hill and Twickenham have worked with the Council to help refresh their Village Plans and design new supplementary planning guidance.
Now, the Village Planning programme is in a new phase, which includes the Village Planning Fund being allocated to help deliver local projects across the borough. The Leader and Cabinet will be continuing the Village Planning dialogue with residents by holding further events in every village. These events will include an update on Village Planning in each area and provide an opportunity for residents to hear about future collaboration opportunities with the Council and other local organisations.
The event will consist of an opportunity for residents to meet the councillors in advance, a presentation from the Leader and the Question Time.
To ensure that a spread of topics are discussed on the night, residents can submit questions in advance. These will be covered in the first 45 minutes of the event. The second hour will be opened to the floor enabling further questions on other topics. An independent chairperson will host each event.
For more information, or to submit a question for an event, please go to: www.richmond.gov.uk/village_plan_events.
Each event will be streamed live on the Council’s Facebook account. And residents unable to attend can ‘Tweet’ their questions to the panelists during the event by using #VillageQT to the @LBRUT account.
