Richmond upon Thames is one of six boroughs that will have access to a new free collection service for unwanted clothing and shoes.
The service is simple and easy to use. Residents will be able to book a collection online or via the phone for a time that they will be at home so they can hand the textiles directly to the driver.
You can donate any textiles from clothing and shoes to linen as long as they are in a clean condition. Duvets or pillows will not be accepted. The collected textiles are sorted and then either sold through TRAID’s charity shops, donated overseas or turned into scraps for industrial use.
The new service, launched at Richmond May Fair, is provided by West London Waste Authority and London-based clothing charity TRAID.
You can book collections through the TRAID website or by calling 020 8733 2595.
