Kew Sparkle raises over £3000 for the KNA

What a great start to the festive season with our annual community Christmas event in Kew – Kew Sparkle.

Held on Friday 2 December 2016, the village adorned with more Christmas lights than ever, the excitement building after fundraising events at schools and at the Kew Gardens Hotel, the day arrived!

Stalls were set up with tantalising food, innovative festive gift ideas, the weather cool and dry, the air infused with the scent of mulled wine, carousels being assembled, Christmas carols gently wafting – the event was finally opened by local Kew resident, and currently Mayor, David Linnette. Santa also arrived on his sleigh and checked in to his grotto (held at Featherstone Leigh this year!), where queues of children were eagerly waiting.

The local primary schools showed off their musical talent with proud parents looking on. Shelle Luscombe led the Christmas Carol Sing-a-Long which brought the evening to a festive climax. What fine talent we have (young and old) here in Kew!

The event came to an end with the raffle being drawn. This year’s benefitting charity was the Kew Neighbourhood Association (KNA), who were thrilled to receive a donation in excess of £3000.
