Secure Bike Parking in the Street

Cycle Store

Residents can now apply for secure cycle parking storage on their street, in a scheme to enable more everyday cycle journeys.

Richmond had its first Bikehangar installed on St. Georges Road in Richmond two years ago, and it has proved to be a popular way to store cycles outside of the home. The hanger is a secure solution to long-term cycle parking and an effective way to protect bikes from tough weather conditions and vandalism. They store six bikes within half the space of a car parking bay, making it ideal for areas where outdoor cycle storage space is necessary.

The Council will fund the installation of Bikehangars, but residents who use them must pay £72 a year to Cyclehoop.

The Bikehangars will now be rolled out across the borough, with residents being invited to suggest locations online. Should there be demand in their street for the storage unit. The Council will review each application individually before consulting with residents about the proposed location within selected streets.
