Desperate to dispose of the body before her husband arrives with an important politician\, she enlists the help of her guests. DESCRIPTION:In the lovely leafy setting of Kew village\, with around 45 stalls selling quality food and crafts\, with live music from local bands\, KVM is famous as the finest\, friendliest market in the area. It’s run entirely by local volunteers and all the operating profits are donated to local charities – adding up to an amazing £82\,000 (and rising) since the market launched in October 2011. \nWe’re always looking for local residents willing to help us organise and run the market. DESCRIPTION:Judith May Evans had a successful career in the corporate sector until a vivid dream led her to writing in Tuscany\, where she lived part-time for sixteen years. \nShe discovered a fragment of stained glass in the local church was painted by the medieval master\, Pietro Lorenzetti\, and that the frescos in the nearby abbey of San Galgano were painted by his brother\, Ambrogio\, led her into the world of Sienese art and its vibrant colours. The celebrations surrounding the installation of Duccio’s Maestà\, the costliest painting in Christendom\, in Siena cathedral inspired the opening chapter of her book\, Colours of Siena. \nJoin Judith on this artistic journey in discovering the often-overlooked gem that is Siena and its medieval art. \n£20 members\, £25 non-members. \nCoffee served at 10.30.

Our programme offers a glimpse into an idyllic world of childhood innocence\, encompassing fairy tales\, poetry and celestial imagery. \nProgramme:\nRavel – Mother Goose Suite\nHogan – 3 Emily Dickinson Songs\nMahler – Symphony No 4 \nDaniel Hogan – Conductor\nEmily Hodkinson – Mezzo-Soprano\nCatherine Schofield – Leader \nRavel’s enchanting Mother Goose Suite is followed by the premiere of a composition by our very own conductor\, Daniel Hogan: 3 Songs\, inspired by the poetry of Emily Dickinson. Every plant specimen is housed within cupboards\, meaning that currently the information is far from the reach of anyone who is unable to visit the Herbarium in person. However\, through online digitisation we are able to share images of the specimens and information about them\, to anyone who requires it – such as scientists\, artists and historians\, no matter where they live in the world. \nDuring your one-day volunteer event at Kew\, you will help us unlock this information. You will transcribe Herbarium specimen labels from images under the guidance and help of Kew staff. No prior experience is needed as help will be on hand throughout the day to guide you.
