SUMMARY:Kew Sinfonia Summer Concert
DESCRIPTION:Kew Sinfonia would love you to join us for our summer concert at St Anne’s Church\, Kew Green\, when we will be presenting a programme exploring both classical and neo-classical styles. \nPaying homage to the great Franz Josef Haydn\, we will be performing his Symphony No 101\, popularly known as “The Clock” due to the 2nd movement’s ticking rhythm. This famous work will be complimented with Prokofiev’s charming and humorous “Classical Symphony”\, No 1. Imagining how Haydn might have composed had he still been alive at the time\, the piece is unique in its conscious attempt to revive the classical style\, but with a modern twist. \nThe other two works in the programme are also neo-classical\, in contrasting ways.  We are delighted to welcome soloist Hannah Gillingham to play Nielsen’s Flute Concerto – a warm\, lyrical work combining classical economy with quirky 20th century orchestration. And our final piece\, Stravinsky’s Pulcinella Suite\, is a vibrant and witty orchestral work which draws inspiration from the “commedia dell’arte” and 18th-century Italian dance music\, particularly that of Pergolesi – all treated with Stravinsky’s own twists! \nProkofiev Symphony No 1 “Classical”\nNielsen Flute Concerto\nStravinsky Pulcinella Suite\nHaydn Symphony No 101 “The Clock” \nDaniel Hogan Conductor\nHannah Gillingham Flute\nCatherine Schofield Leader

DESCRIPTION:Your opportunity to hear what the team have been up to\, what’s been happening in Kew and help set ‘promises’ for the next quarter. \nThe minutes of the last meeting can be found here\, the agenda here and the crime figures here. \nWe are very grateful to the National Archives for letting us meet in their building. However\, the nature of the Archives is such that we have to be accompanied to the meeting room by Darren or another member of staff. Darren usually makes several trips up to the room but the last one will be close to the start time of the meeting. If you are unable to arrive by 7pm\, I’m afraid that you probably won’t be able to join the meeting.\,
