Hammersmith Bridge – Sarah Olney MP

I know how important the repairs to Hammersmith Bridge are to many of you.
Up to its closure to traffic last year, it was a main connection between the north and south sides of the Thames and was used for tens of thousands of journeys every day.
The bridge is owned by Hammersmith & Fulham Council, however Transport for London (TfL) has been project managing the restoration of the bridge since it shut to traffic. They have completed designs for the main bridge repair and a temporary bridge for walkers and cyclists during the repairs. Due to the impact the Government’s social distancing guidance has had on TfL’s income, they are now dependent upon funding from the Department for Transport to repair the bridge.
I will do everything in my power to press the Government to provide this funding but to do this, I need your help. I’d like to hear from you about your experiences since the bridge has been closed to traffic and what you’d like the future of the historic and iconic Hammersmith Bridge to be.
