SUMMARY:The Zoffany Ensemble's Festival at Kew
DESCRIPTION:Marmalade and Masquerades – Storytelling through chamber music\, a family concert inspired by the work of Michael Bond (Paddington) and Edgar Allan Poe (Masque of the Red Death). \nSt Anne’s Church Saturday June 6th 11.00am \nTickets £16.00 adults\, £12.50 child\, £49 family (2+2) \nA magical journey from Paddington Station with London’s favourite bear\, to the dark and haunting shadows of Prince Prospero’s abbey and the spectral figure in a blood-red mask.  \nThis musical programme brings two very different worlds together. Placed side by side\, these pieces show children how music tells stories. Some stories feel cosy and bright; others feel strange and a little spooky. Both spark imagination. \nOn one side\, we meet Paddington Bear. His music is warm\, playful and full of curiosity. It celebrates kindness\, humour and small adventures. On the other\, we step into the darker world of André Caplet’s Conte Fantastique\, after Edgar Allan Poe’s The Masque of the Red Death. This music feels mysterious and dramatic. It explores shadows\, power and big emotions. \nTogether\, they remind us that light and dark belong in storytelling and that music helps us explore both\, safely and creatively. \nRepertoire: \nAndré Caplet – Conte Fantastique after Edgar Allan Poe’s The Masque of the Red Death for harp and string quartet (1922). Story adapted by Erin Muldoon \nHerbert Chappell – Paddington Bear’s First Concert (1984) arr. Roger Montgomery  \nNarration by Helena Korner \nThe Players: \nManon Derome\, Violin \nMichael Trainor\, Violin \nSarah-Jane Bradley\, Viola \nAnthony Pleeth\, Cello \nHugh Webb\, Harp \nThe Zoffany Ensemble is led by Manon Derome who\, along with harp player Hugh Webb\, recorded the original score for three films in the Paddington franchise.

SUMMARY:The Zoffany Ensemble's Festival at Kew
DESCRIPTION:Tales of Joy and Passion. A world where exuberance meets deep lyricism.  The Zoffany Ensemble presents  an evening of radiant melodies\, rich emotion\, and chamber music at its most alive. \nSt Anne’s Church\, Friday 5th June\, 7.00pm\, with complimentary drinks from 6.30pm. \nTickets £35 adult\, £22 students \nFranz Schubert’s ‘Trout’ Piano Quintet and Ralph Vaughan Williams’s Piano Quintet\, both written for the unusual combination of instruments\, share the grounding presence of the double bass — an instrument that adds depth\, warmth\, and a gentle sense of gravity. In Schubert\, it supports music of ease and radiant charm; in Vaughan Williams\, it anchors broad melodies and impassioned\, almost cinematic.  \nTogether\, these works make a perfect pairing: Schubert welcoming you with charm and intimacy\, Vaughan Williams carrying you away on waves of emotion. One smiles\, the other burns\, and both stay with you long after the final note fades. \nThe programme: \nVaughan Williams – Piano Quintet in C minor \nSchubert – Piano Quntet in A major\, D.667 “The Trout” \nThe players: \nManon Derome\, Violin \nSarah-Jane Bradley\, Viola \nAnthony Pleeth\, Cello \nLynda Houghton\, Double Bass \nSimon Callaghan\, Piano
