KNA – Easing Loneliness, One Connection at a Time
Kew Neighbourhood Association offers more than just help with practical tasks — it’s a friendly presence in someone’s day, a link to the local community, and a reminder that no one has to feel alone. Whether it’s a lift to the doctor, help with light gardening, companionship over a cup of tea, or simply a cheerful chat, our volunteers make a quiet but powerful difference.
This June, the KNA team are looking forward to several events that reflect the heart of what we do:
-
A Volunteer Lunch to bring together our incredible helpers
-
A Summer Party on 19th June for the beneficiaries we support throughout the year
-
Our stall at the Kew Fete on 21st June, where we’ll be sharing more about our work — please do come and say hello!
With Loneliness Awareness Week taking place from 14th–18th June, it’s a good time to remember how much impact small acts of kindness can have. We’re grateful to our supporters including Pot Pourri, The People Hive, Trindles, The Good Wine Shop, and The Avenue Club and many others for helping make these events possible.
If you or someone you know would benefit from KNA’s support — or you’re thinking of volunteering — we’d love to hear from you.
Little things that may help ease loneliness — even from home:
-
Call a friend or relative, even for a few minutes — they’ll likely be glad to hear from you
-
Let someone know if you’d like a visitor — KNA can help with that
-
Listen to the radio or join a telephone group — it can be a lovely way to feel connected
-
Place photos, letters, or favourite objects nearby to bring comfort and spark memories
-
Try a small routine, like opening a window each morning or enjoying a cuppa by your favourite view
Everyone deserves connection, and sometimes the smallest things can make the biggest difference.
