Looking Ahead To Kew Sparkle – Fri 5th December

KewSparkle3

Now in its 18th year, our fantastic Kew Sparkle community celebration will take place on Friday, 5 December, once again setting the scene for Christmas in our village. The evening will include the official switch-on of the Kew Christmas lights, which will twinkle throughout the festive season until Twelfth Night.

Visitors can enjoy fabulous Christmas shopping at an array of market stalls, along with delicious street food and mulled wine for the adults.  Many of our village shops will also be open, offering tempting seasonal treats and Christmas specials.

There will be plenty to delight younger guests too. Funfair rides will provide thrills and excitement, Father Christmas will be waiting in his Grotto at Trindles Store, the Snow Queen and King will be walking tall on their stilts and mingling with the crowds and Basil and Crew’s friendly animals will be joining us once again. Don’t be alarmed when you see a shiny red fire engine at the village entrance – our local firefighters will be on hand to show visitors inside the cab, and children can even try on helmets for memorable photo moments!

Entertainment will run throughout the evening on the main stage, featuring a fantastic programme of local bands, singers, school choirs, Rock Choir, and a special Nutcracker-themed dance performance.

Kew Sparkle will also be raising funds for its chosen charity, Small Steps, with many exciting raffle prizes to be won.

Kew Sparkle and the Kew Village Christmas Lights are organised by the Kew Sparkle Committee – a small group of local volunteers.  If you have an hour or two to spare to help on the day or during the evening, the committee would warmly welcome your support. Please email kewsparkle@gmail.com for further information.

The Christmas lights are funded through donations from residents, contributions from local businesses, school Christmas jumper appeals, and council grants. For more information – and if you’d like to donate – please visit www.kewsparkle.org.

The Sparkle Team looks forward to welcoming everyone to this magical community event on Friday, 5 December, from 4pm to 8pm.
