Making Kew Sparkle this Christmas

Poster Final 271026

As we head into November and the darker days of winter, attention is turning to the much-anticipated Kew Village Lights, which will begin illuminating the streets from mid-November and continue throughout the festive season.

Alongside the much-loved illuminations from previous years, this year’s display will feature spectacular “falling stars” suspended from two trees at the village entrances. These new features are sponsored by Antony Roberts and Chestertons.

Looking ahead to Kew Sparkle on Friday 4 December, from 4pm to 8pm, visitors can enjoy all the usual attractions, including fairground rides, Santa’s Grotto and the much-loved farm animals. New to this year’s street entertainment is the Bubble Fairy, who is sure to delight visitors of all ages. The central stage will also host a full musical programme featuring school choirs, ballet performers, Rock Choir and local band Powerjam.

More than 40 stalls will line the streets, offering a tempting selection of street food, mulled wine and handcrafted gifts — making Kew Sparkle the perfect opportunity to enjoy the festive atmosphere while getting some Christmas shopping done.

This year’s chosen charity is Kew Neighbourhood Association, which in 2027 is celebrating 40 years of supporting local residents. Raffle tickets will be on sale at Kew Sparkle, with all proceeds to KNA and some great prizes to be won.

Volunteers Needed!

Can you spare an hour or two on the evening of Kew Sparkle? The committee would love your help with a range of simple tasks, from monitoring queues for the rides to helping visitors at Santa’s Grotto. Come along, get involved and be part of the team that makes this fantastic community event possible. To volunteer, email kewsparkle@gmail.com.

The Kew Village Lights display requires significant funding each year. Please look out for donation postcards arriving through your letterbox soon. Every contribution, however small, will be greatly appreciated and will help keep Kew shining brightly throughout the festive season.

Finally, Kew Sparkle would like to thank its sponsors — Antony Roberts, Chestertons, Elysian Residences, Kew Society, Tap on the Line and Trindles Stores — for their generous support in helping make these much-loved community celebrations possible.
