Kew Fete – Bumper Charity Donations!

Huge congratulations to the hard-working team at the Kew Midsummer Fete.  Thanks to a wonderful turnout at Kew Midsummer Fete on Saturday 17th June and huge support from fantastic sponsors, local companies and keen volunteers £22,439 has now been donated to 14 local good causes, listed below. This brings the overall total raised for charity since 2010 to over a staggering £200,000 from this annual highlight of the summer season.

Judith Hall, Kew Fete Committee’s charity co-ordinator support is delighted: “many small charities are desperate for funds, especially since lockdown and the economic crisis so it’s wonderful to support such diverse causes within the community, from mental health to the elderly to youth employment support, disabled youngsters and the local environment. With specific requests for equipment, resources or staffing we know exactly how the Fete proceeds are helping these charities and their response is humbling”

Kew Midsummer Fete has grown in popularity London-wide, featuring in Time Out and this year in Sainsbury’s Magazine, drawing the crowds thanks to its lively attractions and building the proceeds annually, despite a 2-year absence during the pandemic. It remains, however, the charming local feature it has always been, centred around a traditional funfair, live music from local bands and talent acts with its friendly dog show, tug of war, mobile farm, fun inflatables, tea tent and beer tent, lots of busy stalls with a varied food court and charity raffle. All those who volunteer on the Committee and helpers on the day are proud to know how many charities have been helped while looking forward to next year!
