Planting Seeds of Kindness: Volunteer Gardeners Needed in Kew
Planting Seeds of Kindness: Volunteer Gardeners Needed in Kew
Spring is here, and with it comes a renewed sense of growth and connection. Kew Neighbourhood Association (KNA), is reaching out to local residents with green fingers—or simply kind hearts—to help bring a little beauty and care into the lives of those who need it most.
Many of the people KNA support take great pride in their gardens. These outdoor spaces hold treasured memories, offer peace and calm, and are often a vital connection to nature for those who spend most of their time at home. Sadly, due to age, ill health, or mobility challenges, many are no longer able to tend to their gardens as they once did—and this can feel disheartening and isolating.
That’s where you come in.
KNA is looking for friendly volunteers who can offer light gardening help—things like weeding, pruning, sweeping, or potting up a few cheerful plants. You don’t need to be an expert gardener; you just need a little time and a willingness to lend a hand.
If gardening isn’t your thing, they are also actively seeking more volunteers to offer companionship. If you have even an hour a week to spare, you could help transform someone’s life, whether by sharing stories over a cup of tea or spending time together regularly.
Volunteering not only helps someone else—it’s a gift to yourself, too. Spending time outdoors, connecting with others, and making a visible difference is deeply fulfilling and good for your mental well-being.
Even an hour here and there can help someone feel seen, supported, and valued. You’ll be joining a warm, friendly network of local volunteers who are passionate about community, connection, and kindness.
If you’d like to know more or get involved, visit www.kna.org.uk or contact Ioana Goga, Companionship Manager, at ioana.goga@kna.org.uk.
Together, we can make Kew a little brighter—one garden at a time. 🌿
